Greenland 2: Migration Trailer Previews Gerard Butler’s Intense Disaster Movie Sequel

The first trailer for Greenland 2: Migration has been released.

Greenland is a 2020 disaster thriller movie directed by Ric Roman Waugh and written by Chris Sparling. It stars Gerard Butler as John Garrity, Morena Baccarin as Allison Garrity, Roger Dale Floyd as Nathan Garrity, David Denman as Ralph Vento, Holt McCallany as Twin Otter Pilot, and Scott Glenn as Dale.

The Greenland sequel is now scheduled to arrive in January 2026 and will see Butler and Baccarin reprise their respective roles.

What happens in the Greenland 2: Migration trailer?

The Greenland 2: Migration trailer sees the Garrity family forced to leave their bunker to find a new place to live. Doing so, however, is easier said than done, as rebuilding a shattered planet quickly proves to be a difficult task.

Waugh returns to direct Greenland 2: Migration, while the cast of the movie also includes Roman Griffin Davis, Amber Rose Revah, Sophie Thompson, Trond Fausa Aurvåg, and William Abadie. The script comes from Mitchell LaFortune and Sparling, while Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, Butler, Alan Siegel, Sébastien Raybaud, John Zois, Brendon Boyea, and Waugh serve as producers.

“It’ll be about who survived and how they rebuild the earth when everything has been completely burned to the ground,” Waugh previously told Collider. “It’s a beautiful way to give closure to the Garritys’ story and show where they go from here. So, do you call it a sequel? Yes — but to me, it’s more like the final chapter of what this story has to say.”

With production having wrapped in July 2024, Greenland 2: Migration will be released in United States theaters on January 9, 2026, from Lionsgate. The first Greenland movie, meanwhile, is available to stream on HBO Max at this time.
