Google has launched its Gemini app on the iPhone.

The app lets you access Google’s artificial intelligence assistant Gemini.

The AI-powered personal helper is offered “free of charge”, according to Google’s Brian Marquardt.

It was previously possible to access Gemini through a browser, but this is the first time there’s a dedicated app for the helper on iPhone.

Brian said that you can now have regular conversations with Gemini, just like if you were speaking to a human.

“iPhone users can now talk to Gemini in a conversational manner, including interrupting to ask questions or change the topic,” the Google staffer, who heads up Gemini Experiences at the tech giant, said.

“It’s great for when you want to practice for an upcoming interview, ask for advice on things to do in a new city, or brainstorm and develop creative ideas.

“You can personalize Gemini’s voice by choosing from 10 distinct voices.

“Gemini Live on iPhones is available now in over 10 languages, with more coming soon.”

Google also recommended Gemini for students, saying it would help people “study smarter”.

You can ask questions about subjects and even ask for tailored study plans.

It can serve up step-by-step guidance based on your own learning style.

And if that wasn’t enough, you can also test your knowledge with quizzes.

“For example, you can attach a complex diagram and ask Gemini to quiz you on it,” Brian said.

Gemini isn’t just for text either: it can also produce images.

This works using Google’s Imagen 3 model, which can quickly turn text descriptions into AI pics.

Google says it even supports an option for “enhanced photorealism” to create snaps that look like real photos.

On top of that, Gemini can also link up to other Google apps.
