Going Postal: The Legacy Foretold is a new documentary movie about Running with Scissors’ notorious video game franchise that debuted in 1997. Having premiered at the Phoenix Film Festival in March 2025, the film is directed by Tad Sallee and Jason Sikorsky, both of whom also serve as producers. Matt Hall and Carla O’Brien are executive producers.

The exclusive Going Postal: The Legacy Foretold previews a documentary about how the ultra-violent video game got made. Beyond that, it also dives into how people received and responded to the video game at the time and what kind of legacy it has left behind.

“Uncensored and unapologetic, this feature-length documentary dives into the chaotic 25-year journey of Postal, the notorious video game franchise by Running with Scissors (RWS),” a description of the film reads. “Storming into its 1997 debut, Postal shocked the world with its unfiltered violence and unapologetic dark humor, igniting public outcry, government scrutiny, and multiple bans across the globe. Led by eccentric founder Vince Desiderio and Vice President Mike Jaret-Schachter, RWS navigates a minefield of media fury, legal battles, and industry flops. Through ups and downs—including a disastrous Postal 3 release and its triumphant return with Postal 4 — the film explores the franchise’s resilience, its fan-driven success, and Desi’s defiant message: ‘Have fun. Regret nothing.’ This is the untamed story of an industry maverick, a divisive cultural icon, and an unwavering dedication to fans.”

Additionally, the documentary takes a look at the Postal movie that was directed and co-written by Uwe Boll. Released in 2007, it stars Zack Ward, Dave Foley, Chris Coppola, Jackie Tohn, J. K. Simmons, and more.

Going Postal: The Legacy Foretold will be released on Amazon and Apple on May 30, 2025. Releases on Google Play and Fandango will follow at a later date. Pre-orders for Amazon, Apple, and Blu-ray will go live on Friday, May 16, 2025.
