“I just have to say I’m so glad that I could team up with Katerina,” were the proud words from Taylor Townsend after she lifted the glorious Wimbledon trophy alongside Katerina Siniakova. The amazing duo had to try out different partnerships as they unexpectedly split in the middle of the season. However, amid the distance, Siniakova found support in Coco Gauff which also ended up on a good note. After enough time to keep a distance, Siniakova recently stepped forward to make a big announcement for the upcoming season.
Katerina Siniakova has confirmed her plans to continue her doubles partnership with American Taylor Townsend in the upcoming 2025 season. Speaking at the Billie Jean King Cup in Málaga, Siniakova expressed her optimism about the collaboration. “I hope to go to four Grand Slams with one partner next year. I have an agreement with Taylor for next season, so that’s it,” she said, in an interview with Sport.cz. The duo is looking forward to rebuilding their recent success which has seen them achieve notable results.
The 2024 season was a standout year for Siniakova and Townsend in the doubles category. The pair claimed the Wimbledon doubles title in a thrilling final, defeating Gabriela Dabrowski and Erin Routliffe 7-6(5), 7-6(1). This victory marked her ninth career Grand Slam doubles title for Siniakova and therefore reinforced her reputation as one of the best doubles players in the sport. Meanwhile, Townsend celebrated her first Grand Slam title, making the win even more memorable for her. Their triumph was particularly impressive as it came in their first Grand Slam event together and only their third tournament as a team.

Siniakova’s individual achievements in 2024 further solidified her status as a doubles powerhouse. She finished the year as the world number one in doubles which turned out to be an honor she has now claimed four times in her career. Her previous year-end number one ranking came in 2018, 2021, and 2022, making her one of only four women to achieve this milestone four or more times since the official WTA doubles rankings began in 1984.
Siniakova’s proven track record and Townsend’s determination make the pair aim high in the 2025 season. However, Townsend isn’t the only American WTA star who has shone alongside Siniakova.
When Coco Gauff and Katerina Siniakova shined at Roland Garros
Coco Gauff celebrated a milestone moment at Court Philippe Chatrier. The 20-year-old became a Grand Slam doubles champion for the first time at Roland Garros. She teamed up with Katerina Siniakova in what turned out to be a dream debut. Siniakova, a Career Golden Slam holder in women’s doubles, partnered with Gauff after her usual teammate, Jessica Pegula, missed the event due to injury. Their partnership was finalized just two days before the tournament began.
Gauff reflected on the unexpected triumph. saying, “I think it’s just one of those things that when you least expect it to happen, it happens.” Along with that, Gauff also pointed towards her struggles at the US Open, saying, “Same thing, US Open, when I won it, I didn’t expect to win. I was having a really bad year. Then here, I didn’t even expect to play.” Her relaxed mindset proved to be the perfect ingredient for success as she and Siniakova excelled throughout the event. This victory came after Gauff’s two previous doubles runner-up finishes, including at Roland Garros in 2022 with Pegula and at the 2021 US Open with Caty McNally.
The title added another remarkable chapter to her career for Siniakova. She improved her record to 8-2 in Grand Slam doubles finals and therefore won her last six in a row. The victory was her first major title without her long-time partner Barbora Krejcikova. As she aims to continue the amazing partnership with Townsend, high expectations would surely revolve around the duo.
