General Hospital Shocker: Another Major Character To Leave After Arriving Last Year

A latest report suggests that another major character is slated to leave General Hospital. The actor joined the show in 2025 in a recurring capacity. At the time, the star replaced Charles Mesure, who had originally played the character since its inception in 2023.

Soap Opera Network reports that McKenna’s Jack is purportedly set to be killed off, which would ultimately lead to the actor’s exit. During his stint, he was involved in multiple storylines, including having a relationship with Carly. It soon began to decline when Carly learnt that he recruited Josslyn as a WSB agent. She teamed up with Valentin to punish him. Brennan later learns that Carly had been sleeping with Valentin and deceiving him for months.

Following his breakup, he battled locked-in syndrome, survived an attack by corrupt WSB Director Ross Cullum, and then got in an unexpected romantic entanglement with Nina. However, that relationship may see an end now.

It remains undisclosed how McKenna’s character would be killed off. This news comes right after the recent shakeups that saw several characters’ departures and the arrival of new faces. Back in 2025, the recast of Jack Brennan may have come as a surprise to many, but McKenna made a smooth transition into the role. He credited his connection with Laura Wright, saying it made it easier for him to settle into the storyline.

In a conversation with Soap Opera Digest, he said, “I know it was jarring to the fans, the timing of the way I came in here, but Laura and I have known each other for decades and it was a really, really special thing as soon as we started working together.” He revealed that his first episode had “heavy romance” scenes as it was a Valentine’s Day episode. Though it was an instant challenge, he said that Wright made it “fun” and “great.”
