Some emotional conversations took place on the Thursday, March 12 episode of General Hospital. Maxie (Kirsten Storms) had some hard-hitting questions for Nathan (Ryan Paevey) about Lulu (Alexa Havins), Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) expressed her appreciation to both Rocco (Finn Carr) and Lucas (Van Hansis), Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) doled out relationship advice to Cody (Josh Kelly), Kristina (Kate Mansi) helped Molly (Kristen Vaganos) come to an important conclusion, Jason (Steve Burton) and Carly (Laura Wright) shared an tear-filled goodbye, and Charlotte (Bluesy Burke) shared her worries with Valentin (James Patrick Stuart). Here’s everything that happened.

Say Anything

While hanging out with Dante, Cody asked for relationship advice, asking when Dante knew that Lulu was the one. After rehashing the ups and downs in his marriage and his undercover WSB assignment that ultimately destroyed them, Dante correctly figured that Cody was asking about Molly. Cody confided that Molly’s fainting made him realize how much he cared for her, but when she didn’t want him to take care of her afterwards, it made him wonder if she felt the same way about him. Dante told his friend not to read too much into it, because maybe Molly just wanted to be alone since she wasn’t feeling well, or hadn’t liked Cody seeing her vulnerable.

Cody sighed that couples are supposed to lean on each other, Dante said that it took time and trust — and even after years of being together, he and Lulu had communication issues. Cody quipped that Dante’s pep talk was the worst ever, and his friend acknowledged that he wasn’t in a good headspace to give love advice, since learning about Lulu and Nathan’s involvement had made him think about how his marriage to Lulu had fallen apart. In the end, Dante advised Cody that if he wanted to make things work with Molly, he had to tell her how he felt, because if they both held back, they’d miss their shot at happiness.

Opposite this, Molly shared with Kristina that she hadn’t told Cody about her endometriosis after she fainted in front of him, adding that she’d turned down his offer to take care of her because she didn’t want to face his questions about her condition. Molly noted that while she tried not to let her endometriosis affect her, her not wanting to have children because of the uncertainty with her condition is what ultimately led to her breakup with TJ. She didn’t know if Cody wanted kids and didn’t want to scare him off by discussing that too soon, but acknowledged that she’d have to talk to him about her situation eventually. Assuring Molly that Cody cared for her, Kristina didn’t think Cody would be scared off and wondered if her sister might change her mind about having children someday. Insisting kids weren’t in the cards for her, Molly didn’t think it was fair to lead him on, but ultimately decided that if she and Cody had any chance of a real relationship, she had to tell him the truth.

Trust Fall

When Carly showed up at Lulu’s house, a worried Charlotte nearly blew their secret when she asked if everything was okay, but she and Carly quickly covered. After Charlotte went into the other room, Lulu told her cousin she’d invited her over to let her know she was dating Nathan. Initially surprised, Carly wished the new couple the best, leading Lulu to sigh that Maxie had basically wanted her to pick between their friendship and Nathan. Lulu added that Dante had taken the news relatively well, but she’d been taken aback by Maxie’s response. She told Carly that she’d gotten advice from Tracy, who’d advised her to go after what she wanted, but she didn’t think she should let a guy come between her friendship with Maxie. When Lulu confided that she thought she and Nathan could have something real, Carly declared that she had then done her part in being upfront with Maxie and advised her cousin to do some soul-searching. Their conversation then turned to stubborn daughters, with Carly revealing that she and Josslyn were working through an issue. Carly suggested that Lulu lighten up on Charlotte and suggested the teen would be more trustworthy if she knew she had Lulu’s trust. After Carly left, Lulu decided to go see Maxie. She told Charlotte she could stay home alone but would have to pick up Rocco after his shift at the hospital.

Lonely Hearts Club

Nathan and Maxie had an awkward encounter when he brought James home after his baseball lesson. After their son went to do homework, Maxie asked him if he meant what he said to her the night she’d come home from Boston, or if he was secretly hoping she’d reunite with Spinelli. Nathan insisted he didn’t lie to Maxie, but she countered that he hadn’t been entirely truthful with her, and she couldn’t understand how — if he loved her the way she’d loved him — he could move on in the six months that she’d been away. She cried that when he’d died, the baby she was carrying was the only thing that got her through her first six months without him, but he’d moved on at lightning speed with her best friend. Nathan pointed out that he and Lulu were only starting to figure out if they were more than friends when Maxie woke up, and he’d been ready to try again if she’d chosen him.

When Maxie scoffed that they couldn’t have built their life together with that big of a secret between them, Nathan admitted that he probably wouldn’t have told her about his feelings for Lulu, especially since they’d already agreed at that point to respect whatever Maxie decided. He noted that wanting to ruin their friendship based on something that hadn’t even started was another reason he didn’t talk to her about Lulu. That angered Maxie even more. A frustrated Nathan called her out for choosing Spinelli and moving on with her life while expecting him to remain alone. Maxie scowled that of course, she wanted Nathan to move on — just not with Lulu, because Lulu was the person she’d talk to when he inevitably got a new girlfriend, and she couldn’t do that if Lulu was his new girlfriend! If Lulu and Nathan had each other to talk about Maxie with, that didn’t leave her with anyone, Maxie pouted. Then, there was a knock on the door, and Maxie opened it to find Lulu on the other side.

Not So Bad After All

At G.H., Britt relayed a good-bye message from Liesl to Rocco. Not telling him that she was planning to leave town herself, Britt expressed how appreciative she was that Rocco had reached out to her mother and then let them both be part of his life. Rocco hoped that Liesl would be back in time for baseball season, and Britt mused that her mother wouldn’t miss it, just like she loved watching him play hockey. Rocco asked her if she’d go to his games also, and Britt lied and said she would be there. Hugging her, Rocco went back to work. As Britt leaned over the nurse’s station to collect herself, Lucas offered her a box of tissues, and she snarked that it was just her allergies bothering her.

Moving to the privacy of Britt’s office, Lucas complimented her on the way she interacts with Rocco, and Britt was touched when he mused that Lulu doesn’t see all the ways that she’s changed. Britt felt the mess she was in with Sidwell was proof that she should keep her distance from Rocco, but Lucas responded that risking her life to take down Sidwell was exactly why she should stay in Rocco’s life, even if Lulu never saw her for the hero that she is. To that, Britt said she was grateful for Lucas and Marco trying to help her. They laughed over how Brad’s head would explode if he knew they were working together, and Britt asked Lucas to look out for Rocco while she was gone.

Team Work

In Carly’s attic, Valentin was researching Ross Cullum online and flashed back to making love to Carly. Jason showed up, demanding reassurance that Valentin wouldn’t hurt Carly. Valentin explained how his partnership with Carly had come about because she wanted his help to get Josslyn out of the WSB. When Jason accused him of taking advantage of that, Valentin claimed that it had been an opportunity to bring down Jack and set himself free, because Carly was the only person Jack trusted. Valentin noted that the plan was to implicate Jack in Sidwell’s crimes, but the arrival of Director Cullum in town had complicated things. Jason informed him that Cullum was actually Sidwell’s partner, and Valentin felt that confirmation that Cullum was dirty gave him more avenues to pursue. Reluctantly, Jason acknowledged that working with Valentin was better than Carly trying to extract Josslyn from the bureau by herself and ordered Valentin to keep her safe. After issuing a warning that there would be no place for Valentin to hide if anything happened to Carly, Jason left.

When Carly got home from Lulu’s house, Jason was waiting for her in the kitchen and informed her that he and Britt had to leave town. As the best friends said an emotional good-bye, Carly made him promise he’d come back, and Jason made her promise to be smart and listen to Valentin in her quest to get Josslyn out of the WSB. Jason felt like he was deserting her for Britt, but Carly understood why he had to leave and insisted she could handle her situation. Next, Carly asked what he was going to tell Danny. Jason said he was struggling with how much to tell his son, and Carly offered to be there if Danny needed anything while he was gone. Each begging the other to stay safe, the best friends shared a tender farewell hug.

Meanwhile, Charlotte sneaked over to see Valentin to tell him what she’d overheard between Nina and Jack at Crimson. When she proposed that she could lie to Nina to throw Agent Brennan off his trail, Valentin said he didn’t want Charlotte to risk herself by passing misinformation on to Nina, so they should stick to the story that she hadn’t heard from him. Charlotte confided that she had concerns about just disappearing on her mom, and Valentin told her that if he played his cards right, they wouldn’t need to leave town at all.
