GAZ Beadle’s ex wife Emma McVey has made the decision to pull their two young children out of school.

Emma, 32, has told her followers that she’s decided to homeschool Chester, seven, and Primrose, five, after a nasty experience involving bullying.

The model and influencer, who split with Geordie Shore star Gaz 16 months ago, says Chester was cruelly picked on because of his hair by another child.

Emma said the nasty taunts caused anxiety among her two kids to spiral and even led to ‘tummy problems, nail biting and teeth grinding’.

As she went public with her decision on social media, Emma saw off mum-shamers by insisting it was “the best decision” she has ever made.

Emma shared a sweet picture on Instagram, showing her holding both Chester and Primrose in the air, along with videos and photos of the kids doing their work.

Admitting she had already been homeschooling them both for several weeks, Emma wrote: “I chose this way of learning for my children’s mental health.

“Some of you may have seen me speak about it before, but it couldn’t have got any worse.

“So many people will judge and not understand but when you watch your child with extreme anxiety daily you may change your opinion.”

Emma went on to describe school as an “incredible place” for some kids, but a “very damaging place” for others.

Explaining the bullying hers and Gaz’s son endured, she went on: “We dealt with bullying from a ‘friend’ of my son’s over his hair.

“I will always tell my children to be who they want to be and never do something to fit in, I know so many boys with long hair these days and he loves it.

“Finger biting, teeth grinding, little or no sleep. One of my children was referred for tests to see if there was bowel disease as it runs in the family, but this was actually symptoms caused by anxiety.”

Emma told her Instagram followers that all the negative symptoms have stopped since her children were removed from mainstream primary school.

The star, who married Gaz in 2021, went on to share her “fears” over a lack of social interaction for Chester and Primrose.

As a result, she says she has introduced two-and-a-half hours of curriculum-based learning a day and new hobbies for both kids.

Emma said the rest of the time is spent going on educational trips and meeting up with other home-schooled children.

She added an extra warning to any keyboard warriors poised to “judge” her decision.

“I’m lucky enough to work from home and able to do this but it has still been a huge adjustment for me, it works for some and it’s not for others,” Emma said.

“The reason I have given as much detail as I have is maybe some who usually judge me just might understand a little, because some days it’s really hard being judged on every decision I make.”

Homeschooling Rules in the UK

In the UK, homeschooling is a legal and viable option for parents...

English and Welsh parents do not need permission to educate their child at home, but they must notify the school in writing if they are withdrawing their child from a school to home educate Scottish parents must obtain consent from their local council before withdrawing their child from school, unless the child has never attended a public school Parents must ensure their child receives an efficient full-time education suitable to their age, ability, and any special educational needs There is no requirement to follow the National Curriculum, take standard exams, or adhere to school hours

However, parents still need to ensure their little ones are being adequalty educated. Otherwise, your local council can step in.

Your local council can make informal inquiries to ensure your child is receiving adequate education They may even request information about the home education provision to ensure the learning material is suitable If the council believes your child is falling short, it can serve a School Attendance Order or issue a notice for attendance

Thankfully, Emma has been met with a deluge of supportive comments from her followers.

One told the mum-of-two: “From one home ed momma to another…. Mine thrived and flourished after suffering with school anxiety… you create their flexible and nurturing journey- it will be incredible.”

Another added: “I started it with my 10 year old for the same sort of reasons. She struggled for years. My only regret is not doing it sooner.”

And a third wrote: “Well done Emma, not all children thrive in the school environment. You know your kids more than anyone else and will always do the best for them.”

Emma and Gaz started dating in 2016 and tied the knot five years later. They announced their split in October 2023.

The pair, who are both in new relationships, now co-parent Chester and Primrose.
