New release date windows for some Game of Thrones spin-off shows have been announced.

Game of Thrones ended its eight-season run on HBO in May 2019. Based on the A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy series by George R. R. Martin, the show was created by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. Since Game of Thrones ended, a number of spin-off shows have been announced. So far, the only one that has been released is House of the Dragon, which has so far run for two seasons.

When are the release date windows for the Game of Thrones spin-off shows?

Speaking with Deadline at the Primetime Emmy Awards, HBO Max’s Casey Bloys said that House of the Dragon Season 3 will be “just outside of [the 2026 Emmy eligibility window].” The window closes on May 31, 2026, meaning the show will premiere shortly after that, possibly in June.

Another Game of Thrones spin-off titled A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, meanwhile, is now scheduled to premiere in January 2026. It was previously known that the show was coming out in the winter of 2026 after being pushed back from its original 2025 premiere; however, this new update now gives Game of Thrones fans a better idea of when it’ll arrive.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is set before the events of Game of Thrones and uses Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas as its basis. Created by Martin and Ira Parker, the show stars Peter Claffey as Dunk, Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg, Finn Bennett as Prince Aerion “Brightflame” Targaryen, Bertie Carvel as Prince Baelor “Breakspear” Targaryen, Tanzyn Crawford as Tanselle, Daniel Ings as Sir Lyonel Baratheon, and Sam Spruell as Prince Maker Targaryen.

House of the Dragon, meanwhile, comes from Martin and Ryan Condal. The first season premiered in August 2022, while Season 2 then arrived in 2024. The show’s cast includes Matt Smith as Daemon Targaryen, Emma D’Arcy as Rhaenyra Targaryen, Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, and more.

The first two seasons of House of the Dragon, along with the entirety of Game of Thrones, are currently available to stream on HBO Max.
