2026 has been a celebratory year for Game of Thrones fans, who only had to wait a few weeks into the year for the first project from the franchise. Back in January, HBO premiered the debut season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which has already been renewed for Season 2. The show is a personal favorite of author George R.R. Martin, who has confirmed he has a strong relationship with the series’ creatives. The same can’t be said for the other Game of Thrones show to premiere this year, House of the Dragon Season 3, which just wrapped up with an explosive finale last weekend. Martin has admitted he has a poor relationship with HOTD showrunner Ryan J. Condal, even confirming that Condal won’t directly receive his notes, forcing him to go through HBO.
