Right-handed pitcher Bowden Francis will take the mound as the Toronto Blue Jays look to win their third consecutive game on the road Saturday against the Seattle Mariners.

Third baseman Addison Barger hit three doubles and drove in a pair of runs as the Blue Jays downed the Mariners 6-3 Friday night in their series opener.

Kevin Gausman (3-3) picked up the win, striking out six and issuing zero walks over 5.1 innings of work. Jeff Hoffman recorded three strikeouts in the ninth to earn his eighth save of the season.

The Blue Jays improved to an 18-20 record and are now four games back of the New York Yankees for the division lead in the American League East.

It was an uncharacteristic loss for the Mariners, who hold the best record in the majors since April 7. Seattle sits first in the AL West with a 22-15 record.
