Four Generations, One Heart, and a Whole Lot of Dirt

What a week it’s been!

My heart is still so full from Mother’s Day—definitely one for the books.

Kalene completely surprised me by showing up at church with her whole crew. I just about cried!

Later that day, Richie came over and we had a little pizza party (because let’s be real… pizza is basically my love language).

I looked around the room and thought, Wow… this is my family.

A woman and two children, representing the legacy of a family farm, stand in front of a wooden railing with a waterfall and lush greenery in the background.

It all started with Kalene and Richie, and now we’ve got Ryan, Liam, Connor, and sweet little Kinsley too.

Watching our family grow like this is such a gift.

Three adults and four children stand together on a wooden deck outdoors, surrounded by trees, on a sunny day—capturing generations together, as some of the children hold snacks.

And honestly, none of it would even be possible if my mom hadn’t made a brave choice all those years ago.

She was just a teenager in the 70s—unmarried and under a lot of pressure—but she chose to give me life.

A woman with long blonde hair holds a young girl in a blue and white dress, celebrating tradition as they sit together in front of a decorated Christmas tree.

Because of that one decision, we now have four generations of girls in our family: my mom, me, Kalene, and Kinsley.

It still blows me away to think about that.

Three women stand indoors smiling, one holding a young child on her hip—four generations together. A wooden wall, door, and potted plant reflect the warmth often found on a family farm.

In the midst of all the family joy, I’ve also been out in the yard with dirt under my nails this week.

After ignoring my gardens for way too long (oops), they were looking pretty rough.

But I finally rolled up my sleeves and started clearing them out, pulling weeds and prepping the soil.

It’s amazing what just a little time outside can do for your soul!

I’m planning to get all my seeds in this week and can’t wait to see it all come to life again.

A fenced garden with lush green plants inside, surrounded by tall grass and trees; a small red shed is visible in the background—a peaceful scene shaped by generational gardening traditions.

Still no update on our well situation—we’ve got a temporary fix in place (thanks to Rich’s creativity), so we’re holding steady for now while we save up for the permanent solution.

One step at a time, right?

A green John Deere L100 riding lawn mower with a yellow seat and attached grass collection tube is parked on grass near trees, reflecting the legacy of four generations devoted to family farming.

And about the yard… remember how we were letting the grass grow for the bees?

Yeah, that turned into a bit of a jungle.

Rich finally decided to tackle it, but halfway through mowing, the wheel fell off the riding lawnmower.

You seriously can’t make this stuff up.

Thankfully, he fixed it before dark and got the front yard looking decent again—just in time, because a wild storm rolled in that night.

I wouldn’t be shocked if a tornado touched down nearby. We woke up to trees down all over the place!

A person sits at a desk with a laptop, holding their head in their hands, surrounded by paperwork, office supplies, and a potted pink flower—perhaps a small reminder of their family gardening legacy.

Weekly Wins

This week’s win might not sound flashy—but it’s a big one for me.

I finally started getting to the bottom of some of the tech issues on my website that have been driving me absolutely crazy.

It’s been tedious, frustrating, and honestly not the kind of thing I ever imagined myself doing when I started this whole journey.

Most people only see the fun side of what I do—sharing on social media, being creative, connecting with you all, and yes, even making money online (which is such a blessing!).

But what you don’t always see are the hours I spend troubleshooting broken plugins, updating settings, researching why something isn’t loading right, or trying to figure out why my site suddenly hates me.

Running a website like mine isn’t all cozy blog posts and Instagram-worthy moments—it’s also tech headaches, trial and error, and a whole lot of Googling.

But here’s the thing: even the messy, unglamorous stuff matters.

It’s all part of building something that lasts.

And this week, even though I was tempted to just ignore the problems and hope they’d fix themselves (don’t we all?), I chose to dig in and do the hard work anyway.

That’s a win in my book.

So if you’re working on something behind the scenes right now—something no one else really notices but you—you’re not alone.

Keep showing up. It all counts.

A pair of black sunglasses is clipped to a car's sun visor above the windshield—perhaps ready for another trip out to the family farm, where sustainable agriculture and tradition go hand in hand. Warning labels are visible on the visor.

Favorite Find

I didn’t expect to love these as much as I do, but wow—these magnetic sunglasses holders are a game changer!

No more digging around for my shades or tossing them in the cupholder.

They snap right onto the visor and stay put.

Simple, practical, and surprisingly satisfying.

Interior view of a vehicle from the driver's seat, showing two pairs of sunglasses on sun visors, a hand on the steering wheel, and a road ahead lined with trees—perfect for a family trip or visiting four generations together.

Rich and I both have a pair clipped up now, and I’m honestly wondering how we went this long without them.

If you’re always misplacing your sunglasses, these are totally worth it.

Small win, big difference!

Comedian Leanne Morgan smiles and holds a microphone, posing in front of her 2024 "Just Getting Started" tour dates—sharing laughs that span four generations.

What I’m Watching/Reading/Listening to:

We wrapped up the week with a much-needed date night—Rich and I went to see Leanne Morgan’s live comedy show in Saginaw last night.

We laughed until we almost cried.

Honestly, it was the perfect way to end a week full of chaos, family, garden dirt, and gratitude.

If you’re curious or not sure who this is, you can also find a comedy special by her on Netflix.

I just found out about it last night so I have not watched it yet, but plan to soon.

Hope you’re having a sweet and steady week too, friend!

Until next time,
