While the video game movie curse appears to have been broken in recent years, thanks to the box office success of films such as The Super Mario Bros. Movie and Uncharted, and the critical acclaim earned by shows such as The Last of Us, there was a time when video game adaptations simply couldn't hit the target. Fans would agree that the one franchise that hasn't gotten its due on the big screen, more so than even Tomb Raider and Assassin's Creed, is Hitman. None of its two film adaptations struck a chord with the audience, and the attempted 2015 reboot somehow lowered the bar further. Despite its inability to spawn a sequel, Hitman: Agent 47is making a mark on streaming, having defeated another movie that incidentally makes great use of stealth.
