Forgotten Island Movie Trailer Shows Off DreamWorks’ Most Original World Yet

DreamWorks reveals a new trailer for the fantasy movie Forgotten Island. It features a star-studded voice cast led by Grammy and Academy Award-winning artist H.E.R.

The official synopsis for Forgotten Island reads, “While celebrating their last night together, Jo and Raissa stumble upon a mysterious portal that transports them to the fantastical island of Nakali, packed with magical and mythological creatures they grew up hearing stories about from their Filipino families.”

What do we see in the Forgotten Island trailer?

The Forgotten Island trailer shows two high school best friends, Jo (voiced by H.E.R) and Raissa (voiced by Liza Soberano). After years together, they are on the verge of going their separate ways, but first decide to share one last adventure before parting. However, the besties stumble through a magical portal that transports them to the Forgotten Island.

On the island, they meet a hapless weredog, Raww (voiced by Dave Franco), who tells them the place is dangerous and is ruled by The Dreaded Manananggal (voiced by Lea Salonga), the most feared creature on the Forgotten Island who feeds on memories. Jo and Raissa then try to leave the island before it’s too late.

Forgotten Island is written and directed by Academy Award nominee Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado. Mark Swift is serving as the producer on the project. The fantasy animated movie had already received its initial trailer back in March.

Its star-studded voice cast was revealed last October after it was announced that H.E.R. and Liza Soberano would be featured in the movie. Other key voice actors include Jenny Slate (Marcel the Shell with Shoes On), Manny Jacinto (The Good Place, Top Gun: Maverick), Dolly de Leon (Triangle of Sadness, Ghostlight), Jo Koy (Haunted Mansion, Jo Koy: Live from Brooklyn), and Ronny Chieng (The Daily Show, M3GAN).

Forgotten Island is set to release in theaters on September 25, 2026.
