Forgotten 2010s' Action Sci-Fi Just Lost Its Global Box Office Title to Brilliant New Horror Movie

In less than a week of release in theaters worldwide, The Conjuring: Last Rites has announced that it's a contender for one of the top spots on the list of the highest grossing horror films. It's already among the top 30, and is all but guaranteed to break into the top five before the end of its run. It will probably not be able to match the $700 million-plus haul generated by It, but it could challenge the $470 million that It: Chapter Two made in 2019. The Conjuring: Last Rites is also certainly going to outgross each of its predecessors in the Conjuring Universe, but before it can celebrate that achievement, it can bask in the success of having overtaken one of the least-remembered hits of the last decade or so.
