An Impossible Riddle: Phyllis (Michelle Stafford, l.) and Sharon (Sharon Case) have been trying to figure out who is manipulating them.

After weeks of being held captive by a mysterious stranger, taunted by a mechanical voice over an intercom, and forced to play a life and death Squid Game, Phyllis and Sharon’s kidnapper was finally revealed on Young and Restless, and it was an absolute stunner. If you’re ready to find out, continue reading.

A Surprising Twist

After securing surveillance footage of a windowless white van in the vicinity of both Phyllis and Sharon shortly before they disappeared, Chance watched it with Nick. Although there was no evidence that either woman was abducted, Chance’s gut told him foul play was involved. When Summer arrived, Chance and Nick revealed that they had a general idea where her mother and Sharon may have been taken. Although Summer feared the worst, Chance insisted they would find both women.

While Chance began obtaining search warrants, Nick suggested sending Newman security to the scene. Upon perusing a map of the area, the two men realized that most of the buildings in it appeared to be abandoned. Nick called his security team, instructed them to search the area, and then left to join Chance and Summer. Alone with Summer, a supportive Chance assured her that Phyllis and Sharon would be found and brought home.

Nick arrived at the Newman ranch, where he was joined by Billy. Upon filling Billy in on the latest about the missing women, Billy showed Nick a text he had received from Phyllis on her burner phone. It came from Havenhurst Clinic. Nick did a quick Internet check on the facility, learned it had been permanently shut down, and was located in the area Chance wanted to search. Billy and Nick headed to Crimson Lights to show Chance and Summer Phyllis’s text. They all wondered if it could be the clue they’d been waiting for or some kind of trap.

Back in the basement of the abandoned clinic, Sharon slept, while Phyllis tried to pick the door lock. Phyllis asked Sharon to help her, but she didn’t answer. Worried that something might be wrong, Phyllis checked on Sharon, who was unresponsive. Phyllis tried to shake Sharon awake, before suddenly realizing she had no pulse.

Phyllis, panic-stricken, looked at the intercom and screamed, “Tell me what to do!” She checked the bottle containing the antidote that had saved her, but it was completely empty. Phyllis spotted a note under Sharon’s head that read, “Mark my time in blood, sweat, and tears.” Vowing to come after the freak that was torturing them, Phyllis continued shaking Sharon. Finally, she began performing CPR on Sharon, combining chest compression with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, and, miraculously, Sharon let out a huge gasp.

Phyllis explained that Sharon was dead and then asked their mystery captor if she’d passed their test. Meanwhile, Sharon was stunned that Phyllis actually saved her life. Phyllis pooh-poohed the whole thing, telling Sharon not to make a big deal out of it. Sharon noted that they’d both saved each other while in captivity, then began drinking some water. When Phyllis cautioned her to slow down, Sharon pointed out that it sounded like Phyllis actually cared about her. Phyllis countered that she could hate Sharon without wanting her dead. Sharon, however, noted that this experience had changed things between them.

The two women wondered what their captor was getting out of the bizarre situation that had been set up between them. Phyllis came to the realization that they needed to work together to escape. That was the point of it all. Noticing the voice taunting them over the intercom was gone, Phyllis announced that this was their chance. Phyllis and Sharon joined hands and agreed to work as a team to set themselves free.

Meanwhile, the person behind the taunting voice was seen sitting in Chancellor Park. It was Traci’s fiancé, Alan — or was it his believed-dead psychotic twin, Martin? — who had just bought her an engagement ring. His cellphone beeped and he checked it. It revealed a video feed of the missing Phyllis and Sharon.
