Exclusive: Martha Madison on the DAYS Actor Who Keeps Her Laughing

Martha Madison (Belle) has nothing but kind words for her Days of Our Lives co-stars, but there’s one actor she singles out for praise for keeping her in stitches every time they step on stage together: her TV brother, Eric Martsolf (Brady).

“Nobody makes me laugh like Eric does,” grins Madison. “He’s just so funny. I love it when I see that we’re on the schedule together, because I know we’re going to have a good time. He does impressions and stuff, and is just the funniest, quickest-witted person there. I love working with him.”

Courtesy of the fact that their characters are once again living under John and Marlena’s roof, there have been more opportunities for Martsolf to crack Madison up between scenes. “We always joke around that we all live with our mom and dad, even though we have big careers,” chuckles Madison. “So we’re all in this apartment together and crossing paths a lot.”

Not to mention the fact that John and Marlena’s condominium seems to have a never-ending supply of bedrooms to offer up to their kids and grandchildren whenever they need a place to stay. “That makes us laugh, too,” reports Madison. “The place has this tiny little living room, but there are like 25 other rooms!”

Fortunately those “other rooms” provide a living situation that makes for some interesting interactions between siblings like Belle and Brady. “It’s really nice to play in a scene with somebody that you can tell all your secrets and worries and fears to,” notes Madison. “And Eric, as Belle’s big brother, can give her a roll of the eyes or a shrug or a hug or whatever. They are really fun scenes to play. And Belle and Brady are always ragging on each other, because they’re both doing stupid stuff all the time too. We get to play a lot of that.”

Madison has noticed that shift in scripts of late, and she’s totally on board with it. “I think the fact that they’re building these familial relationships again and really showing viewers the dynamics and the inner workings of the families is something that feels like a nice return to daytime.”
