With the huge list of professional players, only a few names will have had the same coach since the beginning. Among those, Eric Cole is one of those whom his father still coaches, and it has been a journey of a lifetime for the golfer. After starting to pursue the game seriously at the age of 11, he now has 56 minor league wins and 12 professional wins under his name. The American professional, even at the PGA Tour since joining, has been close to the leaders with improving performance each year. Well, for the golfer, it hasn’t just been his coach and skills that have helped him, but the preference for the course has been a huge contributor.

With his club’s preference accompanying the game style and course condition, it has turned out to be the ideal choice for Cole.

Eric Cole’s preference for the tee

For hitting a 297-yard drive, the golfer prefers a PXG Black Ops 0311 driver with a 9-degree loft. The driver launched in 2024 was among the top drivers due to its great forgiveness, improved sound, feel, and appearance. Coming at $599, the driver is an excellent option for achieving longer distances with accuracy. Other than the driver, he keeps fairway woods for long course shots. He carries PXG 0311 2 Fairway Woods 13 degrees, PXG 0311 5 wood with 18-degree loft with GEN5. The $349 clubs offering forgiveness and adjustability make an impressive combination to have in the bag for longer approach shots.

Additionally, he uses PXG 0317 CB (4-8) irons to reach the green without any trouble. The set of bladed irons is praised for its high forgiveness and ball speed, which help make the shot easier, irrespective of the lie. With the $1300 set, he pairs a Dynamic Golf Mid X100 shaft to enhance and reduce the impact feel.

After hitting the ball through the tough fairway, Cole comes down to his final picks for the greens, which helps in closing the score at the lowest.

Cole’s choice for the greens

The 36-year-old has one of the best saves near the green, whether scrambling or sand save. He has a 64% scrambling and sand save percentage. Well, the credit for which goes to his wedge preference, which not only helps him save the ball but also sets it at the best position for putting.

He uses the Titleist Vokey Design SM10 50, 54, 60, which are ideal for spin generation around the green. Not just this, but the wedges offer exceptional feel and control, irrespective of the position. The $189 per club is a great option to buy for setting the ball before the final putt.

At last, with 27.77 putts per round, Eric Cole is placed in 11th position on the tour. He uses the PXG Battle Ready II Brandon putter to make it happen. The $400 putter is widely praised for its firmer approach to hitting with precision. The blade putter is also preferred for its consistent ball roll and precision.

The 2022-23 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year has made some great choices when it comes to his WITB. Even that has been reflected in his performance in the course. Though he still awaits his first win on the PGA Tour, with regular close finishes, it wouldn’t be a surprise to clinch the win soon. What are your thoughts on the golfer’s WITB?
