Emmerdale’s Ross Barton and Coronation Street’s Tracy Barlow have finally come face-to-face in a previously unseen Corriedale scene that never made it onto television.

Michael Parr and Kate Ford’s characters were among several unlikely soap pairings brought together when ITV filmed its huge Coronation Street and Emmerdale crossover.

However, viewers never actually got to see Ross Barton (Michael Parr) and Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) meet during the special, as their encounter was ultimately left out of the finished episode.

Now, almost a year after filming on the ambitious crossover began, ITV has finally released their missing scene, and it certainly doesn’t disappoint.

Sharing the clip on the soaps’ joint social media pages, bosses wrote: ‘Can you believe it’s been a whole year since Corriedale filming began?! As a treat, we thought it was about time we released another lift scene.

‘When Tracy meets Ross… Enjoy.’

The clip sees the two famously outspoken characters encounter one another in a lift, and unsurprisingly it doesn’t take long for sparks to fly.

Tracy immediately gets off on the wrong foot with Ross by treating him like a lift attendant and ordering him to press the button for her.

But anyone familiar with Ross will know he’s hardly the type to quietly accept an insult.

He quickly gives Tracy as good as he gets, leading to a typically sharp exchange between the pair as they clash over which of them has the bigger mouth.

Things then take an unexpected turn when Ross detects something more than hostility between them, pointing out that there appears to be a flirty ‘vibe’.

Tracy, however, isn’t quite so willing to admit it and attempts to play things cool.

The scene was one of four special character encounters filmed for Corriedale, but viewers were only able to choose one to appear in the broadcast version of the crossover.

The other combinations saw Coronation Street’s Roy Cropper paired with Emmerdale’s Nicola King, Kirk Sutherland meet Sam Dingle, and Carla Connor come face-to-face with Charity Dingle.

Fans were invited to vote online for the encounter they most wanted included, with voting remaining open until shortly before Corriedale aired.

Ultimately, it was Carla and Charity’s meeting that won the public vote and secured a place in the episode.

That meant Ross and Tracy’s brilliantly awkward introduction was left on the cutting-room floor.

ITV soap boss Iain MacLeod did, however, previously reassure fans that the remaining scenes wouldn’t be lost forever, revealing there were plans to release them online at some point.

Now ITV is delivering on that promise, giving fans the chance to see what could have been had Ross and Tracy won the vote.

The release has also sparked plenty of nostalgia among viewers, with some already calling for another crossover.

One fan replied: ‘Hopefully you’re filming the next one. Should definitely be a yearly tradition.’

Another was equally keen for more, writing: ‘We need another season of Corriedale; we need to know the story of Graham and Jodie.’

A third recalled just how much excitement surrounded the original event, adding: ‘I remember social media being absolutely buzzing for Corriedale – what a time to be alive eh.’

Whether another full-scale Corriedale event will ever bring the two soaps together again remains to be seen.

But after Ross and Tracy’s missing encounter finally emerged from the vault, fans at least now know exactly what happened when two of Weatherfield and the Dales’ most famously sharp-tongued residents finally met their match.
