Dr. Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) has been on the periphery of the non-stop drama unfolding in Emmerdale for quite a while, though that’s set to change.

The village doctor has endured his fair share of tumultuous times since arriving in the village. Arriving alongside daughter Leanna (Mimi Slinger) following the death of his wife and her mother, he found himself in a relationship with paedophile Maya Stepney (Louisa Clein), who left him following an affair with David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden).

He later had an affair with Bernice Blackstock (Samantha Giles), who left him heartbroken by absconding before their wedding.

He later entered an ill-fated relationship with Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi) and was devastated when Leanna was murdered by Meena Jutla (Paige Sandhu).

Since then, Liam has settled into a relationship with fiancée Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter), blissfully unaware that certified wrong’un and killer John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth), who previously attacked him, has been operating under his nose at the surgery.

Next week sees the kind-hearted doctor begin to display some concerning medical symptoms.

The village doctor is discovered by Claudette Anderson (Flo Wilson) urinating down at the allotment and Liam is left seriously red-faced by the encounter.

The following day, Liam explains that he’s been having trouble controlling his bladder, leaving Claudette deeply concerned.

Though Liam tries to shrug it off, Claudette is adamant he has a problem and forces him to schedule a doctors appointment, trying her best to convince him that, whatever is going on, it needs to be checked.

With Liam unwilling to make a big deal of his growing issue, will he listen to Claudette and seek medical help? Or will he bury his head further in the sand?
