Emmerdale icon to go missing in major new story

When Metro attends an Emmerdale event, you know full well we’re going to return with lots of storyline gossip.

The latest one, which took place on a beautiful sunny day in the Dales, featured show boss Laura Show talking about the biggest plots airing across the next few months for the ITV soap.

Some we already knew about – the continuation of John Sugden’s (Oliver Farnworth) arc, his wedding to Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller), but others we didn’t, allowing the team to tease what’s ahead for some different characters in the village.

One person taking centre stage in a storyline over the summer this year is Paddy Kirk’s (Dominic Brunt) father Bear (Joshua Richards).

Bear arrived in the show back in 2019 and was introduced as Paddy’s biological dad. Shortly after the two characters met, Bear made his way to Emmerdale.

While the character has family around him, he is somewhat of a lonely soul. He had a brief fling with Faith Dingle (Sally Dexter) but following her death, love hasn’t exactly been on the cards for Bear.

He currently lives at Tenants alongside Paddy, Liam (Jonny McPherson) and Mandy (Lisa Riley) but soon, he will vanish from the Dales.

Laura Shaw explained more: ‘He’s going to go off screen for a little while and go missing, and when he comes back, what you’ll see is a very different Bear in a really different situation and we’re all going to be watching saying “what the hell has happened here?”‘.

Sounds intriguing. Just what will happen to Bear while he’s away?

Last year, Bear made a shocking discovery about Mandy in the lead up to her wedding.

Drowning in debt, Mandy took to starting up a financial dominatrix account.

The beloved face figured all she’d need to do was run the profile until the books balance up again, and not tell Paddy in the process. Sounds simple enough, right?

However, when Bear was in the salon, he caught Mandy out after overhearing one of her phone calls. Eventually, Paddy discovered the truth and listened to Mandy, who admitted that she didn’t feel as though she could provide as much as him where their jobs are concerned.

Paddy understood what Mandy was saying and reassured her. They got married in a chaotic ceremony, and it was simply brilliant.
