Emmerdale confirms spectacular ice lake car crash with fan favourite left to die

Emmerdale has confirmed a villager will be left to die in an upcoming storyline, which will see a car crash into an icy lake.

When the ITV soap’s flashforward trailer was revealed, a small clip saw a hand trapped under some ice.

Now, further details of this stunt have been revealed, which will air in February.

But who is under the ice, and will they survive?

The series of stunts, filmed during night shoots before Christmas, required the expertise of a special effects company to create the frozen lake which sits at the village’s edge.

Currently, a number of Emmerdale cast members are set to leave the show, which means there’s every possibility someone – or maybe more than one person – will not survive this crash.

As it stands, Roxy Shahidi, Lesley Dunlop, Paula Lane and Susan Cookson are all departing, with Roxy’s final scenes as Leyla Harding allegedly seeing the character killed off.

Does this mean it will be the wedding planner facing this horrific ordeal?

Discussing what’s ahead, producer Laura Shaw said: ‘With winter nights having drawn in, our audience are enjoying cosy nights indoors whilst our fantastic team at Emmerdale have been recording gripping drama to bring to their screens.

‘The stunning backdrop of the village, from its rugged woodland to its wilder landscapes, set the perfect stage for what’s to come.

‘I’m thrilled for our audience to experience these episodes as they unfold, taking them on a chilling—quite literally—and perilous journey across the frozen ice.’

Also in the flashforward trailer, Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) was seen running from someone in the woods, a body was being dumped in the river, Caleb Miligan (William Ash) was in hospital, and Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) was stood by a freshly dug grave.

Many fans of the ITV soap are now wondering if Cain will be saying goodbye to son Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter), after he suddenly left the village last year.
