However, several shoppers have taken to X to complain about their Easters being “spoiled”.

One person took to X to share their mouldy pork joint ordeal.

They wrote: “@sainsburys just opened our pork joint to cook for Easter lunch and it has mould on the top. Put us off our Easter lunch!”

The superstore replied: “Hey, sorry about the mouldy pork! Can you DM me via the link below with a pic of the barcode and the store you got this from?

“Can you also confirm your full name, address and Nectar card number please? Daniel.”

Meanwhile another shopper shared a photo of a tub of half opened Cadbury Dairy Milk eggs.

Each egg appeared cloudy – this often occurs when fat or sugar crystals migrate to the surface and recrystallise.

The process is called Blooming, and although it is harmless, it can alter the taste and texture of the chocolate.

The shopper captioned the photo: “@Tesco. You really think it’s ok to sell eggs like this?

“Talk about spoiling Easter for kids!!! Imagine doing an Easter egg hunt and going to eat one!! Unacceptable!!!”

The superstore swiftly replied to the shopper and asked her to message them privately to rectify the issue.

A spokesperson said: “Hello. Thanks for getting in touch, I am really sorry to learn about this, could you please send us through a DM and I will have this looked into for you right away. Thank you – Jamal.”

As if matters couldn’t get any worse, another shopper shared their Easter nightmare.

The mum posted a photo of a melted Thorntons Easter Egg and claimed it was the only one out of the lot to melt.

She said: “@Tesco. Imagine my 5 year old daughter’s reaction this morning.

“Bought at the same time and stored in the same way as many other eggs we have bought for friends and family. Not good!!”

To which a Tesco spokesperson replied: “Hi there. I’m very sorry your daughters Easter egg was in such poor condition.

“Can you send me a DM with your full name, email, the bar code, the store you bought it from and the price? I’ll get this dealt with for you. – Cameron.”

Tesco and Sainsbury’s have been approached for a comment.
