Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) has a long history of blaming other people for his problems. Now he’s about to go to prison for a very long time bars, it’s not surprising that his reaction is to blame his lawyer.

Nothing is ever Ian’s fault.

When he covered up the murder of his own daughter Lucy Beale (Hetti Bywater) to protect his monstrous son Bobby, Ian scrambled to deflect the blame and defended his actions of those of a grieving father. When Ian sent Dennis Rickman to watery grave by accidentally locking him below deck on a sink boat, he denied his involvement to Dennis’ grieving mum Sharon Watts and tried to blame the weather.

Now Ian’s in another catastrophic of his own making, and this time, there’s nobody to blame but himself – but that won’t stop him from trying.

On the fateful night of Vicki Fowler’s (Alice Haig) and Ross Marshall (Alex Walkinshaw), Jordan Fox (Jahsaiah Williams) was the victim of a devastating hit and run. Guess who was behind the wheel?

That’s right. Walford’s newest councillor decided to drive his slightly sloshed mother Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) home when he hit what he thought might be a traffic cone or an animal.

However, the horrible truth soon dawned when Ian arrived home to find his gaff lit up by flashing blue lights.

As soon as the police got involved, Ian was desperate to save his own skin, claiming that Kathy caused the accident by distracting him while he was backing up the car.

However, passing the buck just isn’t going to work this time.

While Jordan lies in hospital with possible life changing injuries, his mother Chelsea (Zaraah Abrahams) is beyond distraught – and Ian didn’t make things easier on himself by trying to approach poor Jordan in hospital with a gift.

The newly appointed Councillor Beale could be looking at a lengthy prison sentence – and all because of booze. Following the hit-and-run, Ian was arrested was after failing a breathalyser test since he had been drinking at the wedding. That drink might just cost him everything.

With Chelsea gunning for him, Ian’s desperate to understand what he could be facing and has no choice but to turn to Johnny Carter (Charlie Suff) for legal council.

However, in true Beale style, Ian’s about to shoot himself in the foot spectacularly when his concern with saving his own skin leads him to lashing out at Johnny with potentially catastrophic consequences in next week’s trip to the Square.

With little progress in his case so far, Ian is unimpressed with Johnny’s efforts Ian is unimpressed with his lawyer’s efforts and is quickly losing confidence in his legal counsel.

Because his very freedom is at stake, Ian is so jittery and paranoid about making a single wrong move, that he makes the worst move he could possibly make – firing his brief.

Raging at Johnny for his lack of focus, Ian loses his rag and fires him on the spot.

Has an impatient Ian just sealed his own fate.
