Downton Abbey stars Laura Carmichael & Michael C. Fox announce marriage
Fox and Carmichael attended the NBC special Downton Abbey Celebrates The Grand Finale, where they revealed their marriage, surprising fans and co-stars with the announcement. Reflecting on his experience in the series, Fox said, “I owe a lot to this show. So much of my life has been shaped around this show.”
Their fellow co-star, Lesley Nicol, asked Fox, “What if someone said you’re actually going to find your wife and have a child? Life-changing stuff.” The couple agreed, calling it a life-changing moment. “It’s incredible,” Fox added (via Today).
The couple reportedly met on the set of Julian Fellowes’ drama Downton Abbey around 2014. Initially, they kept their romance private and away from the public eye, choosing to focus on their careers. However, in 2016 they made their relationship public at a fashion event, marking their first official appearance together.
In an interview with the Sunday Post, Fox revealed that although they met while filming, they preferred to keep their personal and professional lives separate. “We try not to talk about it too much outside of our personal lives. And that was the same on set. It was just professional. We’d go to work and we didn’t want it to be a thing in any way when we were working together.” They share a son named Luca.
