Jake Paul mentioned a matchup against Gervonta Davis. But it would do him good if he had a substitute to replace Tank, right? Three years after he won his first professional boxing fight, UFC legend Antonio ‘Minotouro’ Nogueira is back in the ring. At the Fight Music Show 6 in Sao Paolo, he knocked out an influencer in the second round. As they came across the footage, a string of fans and followers chimed in with comments.
It’s been five years since Nogueira left the octagon. His last boxing match occurred on January 30, 2022. But despite such a long stretch of absences, the legend, who will turn 49 years old on June 2, surprised everyone as he drubbed the young bodybuilder-influencer Fabio Tadalafellas.
Minotouro, back with a bang!
“Minotouro Nogueira just destroyed a Brazilian influencer in a boxing match ,” reported MMA Fighting in an Instagram post. The accompanying video featured the second round footage, when Nogueira knocked out Tadalafellas with back-to-back left hooks.
Headlined by the fight between former lightweight titleholder Acelino Freitas and actor Duda Nagle, the May 17 event also featured Antonio Nogueira and Fabio Tadalafellas in the co-main fight. Initially, testing each other, the two started off a bit slowly.
But as the second round started, the former UFC light heavyweight fighter started picking up the pace. It didn’t take much time before he stopped Tadalafellas in the five-round battle. Though largely known for his exploits in the octagon, one should note that Nogueira actually had a successful amateur boxing career. A 2007 Pan American Games bronze medalist, he was the Brazilian super heavyweight champion for two consecutive years.
Let’s check what a few fans had to say.
Beating both time and the odds
For this fan, the Nogueira-Tadalafellas clash offered a welcome jolt of excitement. They said, “This is refreshing after seeing a ton of old fighters lose lately.” From Anderson Silva to Roy Jones Jr. or Mike Tyson, former champions who made a comeback couldn’t repeat the success they had in their prime.
Then, for obvious reasons, a few suspected the credentials of Nogueira’s opponent. “I bet he’s one of those keyboards warriors ,” this fan chuckled. From the way he fought, it appears the fight in São Paulo was indeed the influencer’s first combat experience.

But another one had a word of caution: “Don’t let Jake Paul see this.” Now, that couldn’t have been far off the truth. After facing a 58-year-old former heavyweight champion, Paul could possibly call out a former UFC fighter who is just a decade younger than Tyson. Let’s not forget, his upcoming opponent is 39.
However, this follower flipped the jibe by saying, “Bro thought he was Jake Paul.” Now that’s another possible take. Given how Jake Paul has been beating them, it was time someone spoke on behalf of those beleaguered fighters and champions.
As expected, one of the users beckoned a face-off with truth. “Could you imagine Nog fighting a real fighter now?” They asked. That’s something Nogueira, his team, and, most significantly, fans will have to decide. Is a win over an influencer sufficient for him to explore new opportunities in boxing?
Despite the myriad comments, it’s nonetheless impressive to see how a former is able to come back and win a fight.
For one, it was an exhibition fight. Hence, to draw conclusions based on how it unfolded might prove futile. For now it should make everyone happy that there are a few for whom age is just a number. Time has yet to tighten its grip on them.
What about you? If Jake Paul could fight Anderson Silva, then could he take on Antonio Nogueira as well?
