In a rare live reunion of the Los Angeles creative collective responsible for some of the decade’s most influential alternative R&B and indie music, Dijon and Mk.gee spent their weekend performing as a wedding band. The musicians joined forces to celebrate the marriage of producer and director Jack Karaszewski and director Danica Kleinknecht.

The wedding took place over the weekend of October 10, 2026, with footage of the private event beginning to circulate on social media by October 13. Rather than a permanent shift in career direction, the performance served as a personal tribute to two of the group’s most frequent collaborators.

The makeshift band featured a deep bench of talent from the artists’ inner circle, including Henry Kwapis, Paul Dally, and the Mulherin brothers. For the celebration, the group stepped away from their original compositions to deliver a set of classic rock and folk covers. The setlist included a rendition of Wings’ “Let Me Roll It” and a performance of Cat Stevens’ “Trouble,” which featured guest vocals from Katie Pearlman of the supergroup Tommy. For the “first dance,” the collective performed a cover of the Big Star classic “Thirteen.”

The event functioned as a full reunion of the visual and sonic team that has defined much of Dijon and Mk.gee’s recent output. Karaszewski is a primary collaborator who worked on Dijon’s 2021 album Absolutely and directed its accompanying live film. Similarly, the bride, Danica Kleinknecht, has directed pivotal music videos for both artists, helping establish the gritty, intimate aesthetic that has become their trademark.

This gathering of the collective follows years of shared musical history, spanning from the breakthrough of Absolutely to the group’s ongoing creative partnerships. While the artists have frequently appeared on each other’s studio recordings, these informal live sessions highlight the tight-knit creative bond that continues to anchor their work in the Los Angeles indie scene.
