After a particularly dour 2024, the horror genre had a much-awaited return-to-form this year, thanks to a string of record-breaking hits. But the hot streak is ending this week, with yet another movie distributed by the struggling studio Lionsgate. Just a couple of weeks ago, Lionsgate released the horror-adjacent film The Long Walk, which still has time to grow after earning around $30 million worldwide. But the studio's latest release, The Strangers: Chapter 2, is practically dead on arrival. The movie will just about manage to find a spot on the top five list at the domestic box office this weekend.
