The Walt Disney Company has a special place in the hearts of many. From their beloved films to their theme parks and even their Broadway endeavors, the company spans the entertainment industry with, largely, great success. However, when it comes to Disney’s remakes and reboots, the reception has become more and more mixed since the release of Cinderella. But in the more than 10 years between Cinderella and Snow White, there have been a few gems, one of the greatest, of course, being Mary Poppins Returns. It’s a reboot that is both harmless and nostalgic, carrying itself with a pure love for Walt Disney’s seminal classic, while also nodding to P.L. Travers’ original book series. The picture is a largely fun ride for all of us who love the character so much. In addition to Emily Blunt’s fantastic casting, the movie also had a heartwarming cameo from fan favorite Dick Van Dyke. But the lovable former chimney sweep wasn’t the only original star the Mouse House tried to bring back. Indeed, Disney tried to make the title of the film literal by asking Julie Andrews to make an appearance as the finale’s Balloon Woman. So, what happened?
