Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Dune’ Trilogy Isn’t Actually Tackling the Third (and Most Controversial) Frank Herbert Book  

Denis Villeneuve has confirmed that Dune: Messiah will be his last cinematic outing in the series, meaning he only plans to adapt two of Frank Herbert's novels. The original Dune book series consists of six books, spanning from Dune to Chapterhouse: Dune, which spans thousands of years and follows generations of Atreides and Harkonens across the galaxy.
