That DC Studios Jimmy Olsen show is now confirmed to be filming this year – and its key villain has been revealed.

When it comes to DC Studios news, James Gunn has been the man who has generally been front and center on social media to shoot down rumors and to drop tidbits.

It was a little different today as Gunn’s co-CEO Peter Safran popped up in Brazil, alongside members of the “Supergirl” cast on that film’s world press tour, where he spoke with Good Nerd about DC’s upcoming slate.

One bit of news he accidentally revealed was that filming will begin soon on the “Superman” spin-off series, a fictional true-crime docuseries hosted by Jimmy Olsen (Skyler Gisondo) investigating supervillain cases. He also confirmed the main villain for it:

“We’ve talked about the Gorilla Grodd show for HBO that we’ll start shooting this year…I probably shouldn’t have said that. [laughs]”

He was also asked what’s next after the already announced projects, such as a possible “Justice League”. He indicates DC isn’t in any rush:

“We’ll talk about that when the time is right. But it’s really important for us, like with everything, to get the scripts right, to get the story right, we’re not in any rush, we want to do it right, we want to do it well, we want the stories to be crafted in a beautiful fashion, and having a creative visionary likes James Gunn at the head of DC gives us such an incredible advantage.”

Superman star David Corenswet was on hand as well, revealing that his Superman workout routine was 2.5 hours per day, 5-6 times per week and adds, “to be fair most of that was sitting on a bench catching your breath”.

That wasn’t the worst part. It was the diet that saw him eating at specific intervals, including having to get up early to eat.

“Supergirl” opens in cinemas next Friday.
