Forever Young: Jackée Harry (Paulina, l) enjoys how co-stars Carson Boatman (Johnny) and Raven Bowens (Chanel) update her on the latest slang.

Working with the young vibrant cast of Days of our Lives – specifically, Raven Bowens and Carson Boatman, who play Chanel and Johnny – keeps Jackée Harry (Paulina) happy; not to mention up to date on all the latest things hip.

“Let me tell you, I’m thankful every day that they have turmoil, because turmoil gives you longevity,” delivers Harry with a laugh. “I love it. I’m a workaholic. I enjoy getting up and going to work and being involved, especially with these young people. They’re teaching me so much. As Jackée, I’m learning new stuff, new terms and how they communicate. When they communicate, they say words that maybe I don’t even understand.”

How to Cause It

Among the expressions Bowens and Boatman have taught Harry are “how to cause it,” she says. “When you enter a room, wear something see-through, wear something tight, or wear something bold. When you cause it, you walk into a room and everybody reacts. I mean, you know swag and all that. You’ve got to listen to all these lyrics. It’s all new to me, but they’re inundating me with all kinds of things and making me feel welcome, which warms my heart. I never used to feel that way.

The DAYS younger generation’s influence on Harry is something she’s come to truly appreciate. “They’re easy about it,” shares Harry. “I went out with Carson and Raven the other day, right after work. He just had a baby, which is great. They keep me up to date on their lives. They’re real people. I went to Raven’s play. That was exciting. I saw her on stage, and she was fabulous. They’re always doing things. Raven took me to the opera, but I don’t know about that. Four hours! I had a long dress on and everything. Between that and going to see Wicked, I was done. I was like, ‘I’m in for the night.’ But I enjoy these young people immensely. I really like them, and it’s not fake. Sometimes you have to [fake it] with your coworkers, but with them it’s easy peasy.”

Are there any interesting things that Harry has discovered about the pair or found she had in common with either of them? “Well, like I said, Raven took me to the opera. Who knew that she would take me to the opera, when I wanted to take her down to a sleazy bar?” delivers Harry with a laugh. “And Carson likes his music. He likes country music and he likes little honky-tonk bars where they play country [music]. Who knew? I like Chris Stapleton country, contemporary country. I love Johnny Cash and Loretta Lynn, but that old twang-twang stuff is not my style. I like it a little more contemporary. Stapleton is the man and Teddy Swims. I like that sound, those new chords.”

Harry has come to appreciate Boatman’s musical talents too. “Carson can sing,” says Harry. “He loves playing his guitar and singing his songs. Who knew? I went to see him at a little place over in Burbank. He’s quite a performer. I sing too. I like to get up and sing, but I don’t do country. I’m staying in my lane.”

Keeping It Real: While Jackée Harry’s Paulina doesn’t seem to know what to make of Chanel (Raven Bowens, l.) and Johnny (Carson Boatman), the younger actors always keep their co-star in the loop in real life.
