David Guetta and Cedric Gervais have reunited for a new single, "A Better World," a love letter to the golden age of French house music.
Drawing inspiration from Jackie Moore's 1970s hit "If," the French electronic music titans constructed a sonic bridge between disco's euphoric past and the euphoria of today's dopemine-fueled dance music. Their reverence for their musical heritage permeates the beat, which chugs along to a radiant house rhythm.
The production maintains the glossy sheen expected from Guetta and Gervais while allowing space for nu-disco flourishes that feel authentically rooted in the underground Parisian club scene from which both artists emerged.
"I'm very proud of this record we did with David," Gervais said in a statement. "It comes back to our musical roots—being French, I grew up with French house: DJ Falcon, Cassius, Daft Punk and many more incredible artists. That's what we wanted to do with this record: bring back that sound!"
The track arrives after their 2016 collaboration "Would I Lie to You" eclipsed a staggering 500 million streams across platforms.
