AMC+’s breakout hit Dark Winds is finally showing cracks in its once-unshakable dominance on streaming. After spending more than six months as a fixture in the streamer’s top 10, the series has now slipped to the 10th spot. While still hanging onto the charts, the series finds itself in dangerous territory as heavyweight contenders like The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon and The Walking Dead: Dead City circle with the potential to push it out entirely from the AMC+ U.S. top 10 rankings. Created by Graham Roland and adapted from Tony Hillerman’s Leaphorn & Chee novels, Dark Winds has been one of AMC+’s crown jewels since its 2022 debut. Set in the 1970s American Southwest, the series follows Navajo police officers Joe Leaphorn (Zahn McClarnon) and Jim Chee (Kiowa Gordon) as they navigate crimes intertwined with Native American traditions and their own personal traumas. The show has quickly elevated from a niche adaptation to a fan-favorite.
