Daredevil: Born Again Showrunner Explains Importance of Jessica Jones’ Return

One of the most anticipated returns in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones. In an interview with GamesRadar+, showrunner Dario Scardapane explained why Jones had to return to Marvel Television.

“I really love the work that Melissa [Rosenberg] did in Jessica Jones,” Scardapane told GamesRadar+. “I think it’s one of the best genre television shows done. I think Krysten’s created an amazing character. Bringing her back in this season was top of the checklist. It’s not in the episodes you saw. It’s one of the highlights of the season for me creatively, and I think for the viewers. I know for the studio.”

Ritter starred as Jessica Jones for three seasons on the Netflix series of the same name. Jessica Jones also starred alongside Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist in Netflix’s The Defenders. With her return in Daredevil: Born Again, Jessica Jones will have her Defenders reunion with Matt Murdock.

“We have great characters,” Daredevil: Born Again executive producer Sana Amanat added. “I have to say the previous shows have fantastic characters that they built, and for us, you know, JJ was a wish that we wanted from the beginning. So it was exciting that we were able to make it happen, and exciting, exciting to see where she is now many years later.”

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 will continue the adventures of Matt Murdock/Daredevil (Charlie Cox), who is now on the run after Mayor Wilson Fisk/Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) declares war on vigilantes.

Season 2’s cast includes Margarita Levieva, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Wilson Bethel, Zabryna Guevara, Nikki M. James, Genneya Walton, Arty Froushan, Clark Johnson, Michael Gandolfini, Ayelet Zurer, Tony Dalton, Matthew Lillard, and Lili Taylor.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 premieres on Disney+ on March 24, 2026.
