Daredevil: Born Again Is Officially Ending, Showrunner Exits During Season 3 Post-Production

Daredevil: Born Again is officially coming to an end with its upcoming third season. Marvel Studios has decided that Season 3 will serve as the final chapter of the Disney+ revival series, while showrunner Dario Scardapane is also exiting the production.

The decision comes roughly two months after Season 3 wrapped principal photography, with the series now in the final stages of post-production.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel did not renew Scardapane’s contract, leading to his exit. A source told the outlet that Season 3’s work is in its final stages, although it is currently unclear who will oversee the final touches. Marvel has not commented on this report.

Daredevil: Born Again has had to overcome a number of problems during production throughout its run

Daredevil: Born Again has followed criminal kingpin Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) as he becomes mayor of New York and begins targeting Daredevil and other vigilantes who oppose him. Season 2, which aired in spring 2026, ended with Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) going to prison.

The series has undergone several changes since Disney+ revived Daredevil. The series originally ran for three seasons on Netflix from 2015 to 2018. Marvel first announced Born Again in July 2022 with an 18-episode order. Matt Corman and Chris Ord initially served as head writers on the project.

Following production delays during the 2023 Hollywood strikes, Marvel executed a creative reset, leading to Corman and Ord’s departure.

Marvel subsequently brought in Scardapane as showrunner. He had previously served as a writer and executive producer on Netflix’s The Punisher. Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead also joined as directors and executive producers after working on Marvel’s Loki and Moon Knight.

Marvel later split the original 18-episode order across two seasons, ultimately producing 17 episodes. Season 1 had nine episodes, followed by eight episodes in Season 2.

With Season 3 now set to be the final season of Daredevil: Born Again, Marvel has yet to clarify who will handle the remaining finishing touches following Scardapane’s exit.
