
Focus Features has finally announced the Anemone release date for the upcoming family drama, which will be led by Academy Award winner Daniel Day-Lewis. After nearly a decade since he was last seen in the big screen, Day-Lewis is officially returning to acting for his son’s feature-length directorial debut.
“The film explores the complex and profound ties that exist between brothers, fathers, and sons,” reads the synopsis.
Prior to his acting hiatus, Day-Lewis starred in Paul Thomas Anderson’s romantic period drama Phantom Thread. For his leading performance in the 2017 movie, he received multiple acting nominations, including an Oscar and a Golden Globe nominations for Best Actor. Day-Lewis is also best known for his roles in My Left Foot, In the Name of the Father, Gangs of New York, There Will Be Blood, and Lincoln.
When is the Anemone release date?
Anemone has now been scheduled to arrive in select theaters on October 3, followed by its wide release on October 10. Besides Day-Lewis, the movie will also star Sean Bean (Game of Thrones), Samantha Morton (The Walking Dead), Samuel Bottomley (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie,), and Safia Oakley-Green (Out of Darkness).
The film is directed by Ronan Day-Lewis, who also co-wrote the screenplay with his father. The creative team includes cinematographer Ben Fordesman, production designer Chris Oddy, casting director Shaheen Baig, and more. It is a production by Plan B.
“We could not be more excited to partner with a brilliant visual artist in Ronan Day-Lewis on his first feature film alongside Daniel Day-Lewis as his creative collaborator,” Focus Features chairman Peter Kujawski said in a statement when the project was announced. “They have written a truly exceptional script, and we look forward to bringing their shared vision to audiences alongside the team at Plan B.”
