Danganronpa 2×2 Physical Copies Now Game-Key Card Carts

If someone buys a physical copy of Danganronpa 2×2 for their Switch 2 they will only get a game-key card cartridge and not the full game on the cart. Spike Chunsoft announced the change in direction during gamescom 2026. It did not explain why. The statement only called it “unavoidable” and mentioned “this decision was not taken lightly.”

Spike Chunsoft also announced how the worldwide Spotify cancelation, refund and pre-order sales worldwide for the physical Switch 2 Danganronpa 2×2 pre-orders will go following this game-key card cart reveal on social media. If someone is in the US, that will mean an automatic cancelation and require someone to place another order. If you are in another region, your order will remain and will be changed to the game-key card version instead unless you contact the retailer.

This follows a substantial Danganronpa 2×2 delay. The updated remake features the original story with new features like a 3D world map and character art. It will also feature a Slayhem mode that changes the story and means different people will become victims, murders, and survivors.

Danganronpa 2 x 2 will come to the Switch, Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC in early 2027 following the delay out of 2026. The original game appeared on the PSP in Japan, then the Switch, PS4, Vita, Xbox One, PC, and mobile devices worldwide.
