The NFL offseason is in full swing, and the league is facing some of its biggest decisions yet. With all the changes we’ve already seen to the format, it’s clear there are more shakeups on the way. Two of the most talked-about topics right now are the future of the tush push play and how playoff seeding might be revamped. But there’s another major storyline gaining traction — the NFL potentially joining the 2028 LA Olympics. Fans have had plenty to say about it, and Dan Campbell’s wide receiver is no exception.

On Tuesday, Dan Campbell’s wide receiver defiantly posted a subtly provocative gesture on Instagram. The star receiver didn’t mince words, making a bold and calculated decision that sent ripples through his followers. His post wasn’t just a statement. It was a firm stand, a deliberate move that appeared to challenge or reject certain aspects of American values or narratives. In a time when athletes increasingly use their platforms to speak truth to power, the wide receiver’s choice was as symbolic as it was provocative.

Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown posted an image referencing the NFL owners’ recent decision regarding the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. The decision allows NFL players to represent their national teams in flag football. That will be introduced as an Olympic sport in 2028. But that’s not the main point here. St. Brown shared a graphic with overlaid text reading, “It’s up! Die Mannschaft.Die Mannschaft translates to “The Team” in German.

Dan Campbell’s WR has made a decision to support his national team on the international stage. Though people often label him simply as American, the Detroit Lions’ wide receiver proudly holds dual citizenship. That’s why he didn’t flinch or hesitate to show support for the country of his heritage—a place deeply connected to his roots, identity, and family history.

While his mom, Miriam Steyer, is German, his dad, John Brown, is an African-American bodybuilding legend. It looks like the football player hasn’t forgotten his German ethnicity.

It may be because the Lions‘ WR has been extensively traveling to Germany with his brothers, Equanimeous St. Brown, and Osiris St. Brown. He represented Germany in high school football. But equally represented America at higher levels, like the University of South Carolina, and then in the National Football League.

While there are many decisions and important files of tush push and playoffs seeding pending, it looks like the Olympics 2028 decision by NFL owners holds the most value as of now.

NFL owners’ unanimous decision on the future of football

During the Spring League Meeting, the NFL owners unanimously (with a 32-0 vote) decided that the league is allowing players to participate in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. But you must be wondering, how many players does a single franchise send? Well, according to NFL.com, one player from each team will be sent to the 2028 Olympics. More details will come as soon as the Olympics are near.

While confirming the NFL owners’ decision about the 2028 Olympics, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell made a strong statement. “I think this news represents a great opportunity for the sport, for the NFL. It’s truly the next step in making NFL football and football a global sport for men and women of all ages and all opportunities across the globe. We think that’s the right thing to do, and this is a big step in accomplishing that.” Flag football has been added for the first time in Olympic history.

The National Football League reported that the league management council can now move forward with negotiating arrangements with the NFL Players Association, national governing bodies, and Olympic authorities. Each country’s National Olympic Committee will choose rosters of 10 players. Now, only the Olympic authority will decide further things like schedule, teams, and everything. The NFL owners have made a major decision by expanding football to the Olympics.

As Amon-Ra supports his roots, it will be interesting to see which players get selected for the grand event.
