Salman Khan and his family have a tense relationship with Abhinav Kashyap, the filmmaker of the 2010 movie Dabangg. Following the film's release, Abhinav declined to direct Dabangg 2, accusing the Khans of sabotaging his career. Now, as Dabangg turns 15, the filmmaker has spoken out about Salman's behavior on set.

Salman Khan labeled as 'gunda'

Abhinav didn't mince words when he called Salman a "gunda" in an interview with SCREEN. According to him, the superstar hasn't been interested in acting for the past 25 years and only shows up for the fame rather than the art form. Abhinav went on to say that he was unaware of this aspect of Salman prior to Dabangg, characterising him as unruly and challenging to collaborate with.

Abhinav asserts Khans use industry power vindictively

The filmmaker further asserted that the Khan family as a whole is vengeful and focused on industry dominance. He said that Salman, who comes from a family with more than 50 years of filmmaking experience, is "the father of the star system" in Bollywood. According to him, they make life tough if you don't agree with them.

He also disclosed that when working on Tere Naam, his brother Anurag encountered a similar difficulty. Anurag had cautioned him before Dabangg that working with Salman on a movie wouldn't be simple.

He didn't elaborate, but he was aware that Abhinav would be under pressure from the industry's "vultures," as he put it.

Why Abhinav's brother quit Tere Naam?

Abhinav continued by saying that despite having created the script, Anurag ultimately left Tere Naam. He described how his brother was tortured and not given due credit by producer Boney Kapoor.

Abhinav emphasised that a successful movie usually begins with a solid story, adding that he had experienced a very similar circumstance himself.
