Oliver Glasner has shared an update on Marc Guehi and Adam Wharton after the Crystal Palace stars were taken to hospital following their historic FA Cup win.

Palace lifted their first-ever major trophy on Saturday after stunning Manchester City 1-0 at Wembley, with Eberechi Eze scoring the winner.

But amid the emotional celebrations, there was concern for star players Guehi and Wharton who were rushed to hospital soon after lifting the cup after suffering concussion during the match.

Both went down during the second-half after the ball was powerfully kicked into their heads and despite initially carrying on, Glasner was forced to sub the defender and midfielder off.

Captain Guehi, whose eye injury was clear to see, was discharged from hospital late on Saturday night, while Wharton was well enough to issue an update from his hospital bed on social media.

The Eagles now have the chance to beat their record points tally in the Premier League, needing just a draw from their final two games against Wolves and Liverpool.

But Glasner has confirmed that both England internationals are unavailable for Tuesday night’s clash at Selhurst Park, with Wharton also ruled out of Sunday’s trip to Anfield.

‘Adam and Marc will definitely miss tomorrow’s game,’ the manager said in his pre-match press conference.

‘Adam will also miss the Liverpool game – he had a concussion at the end [of the final]. Marc… let’s see, maybe, for Liverpool – but both players will miss tomorrow’s game.’

It remains to been if either player will be fit in time to feature for England during the upcoming international break, with Thomas Tuchel no doubt keen to have the impressive Three Lions stars in his squad.

Given the tight turnaround from the final, it would not be a surprise if there was further rotation, with Glasner confirming that his team have not trained since Wembley.

‘We cancelled Sunday’s training and we’ll train now after the press conference,’ the Austrian added.

‘We’re looking forward to meeting all the players again, but of course I don’t know how they will present today. It’s now about finding the right motivation.

‘We will have a meeting and talk about it, because it’s nothing you can ask somebody to do, or say “you have to”. We have to find the right commitment altogether: how we want to enter this week, and especially how we want to end this week – with two games to play – and we will talk about it, then let’s see how well we can do this.’
