The Dallas Cowboys have locked up a key piece of their secondary.
Dallas and cornerback DaRon Bland agreed to a four-year, $92 million extension on Sunday, the team announced. The deal includes $50 million guaranteed.
Bland, 26, was drafted by the Cowboys in the fifth round of the 2022 draft out of Sacramento State.
He broke out in 2023, earning All-Pro honours and a spot on the NFC Pro-Bowl squad. Bland led the NFL with nine interceptions and set a league record by returning five of them for touchdowns.
Bland wasn’t able to replicate his 2023 performance last season, however, as he was limited to just seven games by a stress fracture in his foot. Over those seven games, he didn’t record any interceptions, but defended five passes and recorded 41 tackles.
The move comes just days after the Cowboys moved on from star defender Micah Parsons, sending the four-time Pro-Bowler to the Green Bay Packers for two first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark.
