Series creator Derek Haas recently revealed that he wants to do a crossover between Amazon Prime Video’s Countdown and Chicago PD. Countdown, which was released in June 2025, wrapped up its first season on September 3. After ending the season finale on a cliffhanger, many fans are hoping to see the events of Season 2 soon.
Derek Haas would love a Chicago PD crossover with Countdown
Derek Haas, the creator of Countdown, recently had a conversation with TV Insider in which he revealed that he wants to do a crossover between the new series and Chicago PD.
Haas was asked whether he ever thought of bringing Jesse Lee Soffer into the Countdown universe alongside Jensen Ackles’ character Mark Meachum. He stated, “Believe me, that’s crossed my mind. I don’t know that we can get him, but that would be really fun. I guess he was an Army Ranger also, and it’s like maybe he and Meachum [Jensen Ackles] were in the same unit. It was like a Halstead Meachum reunion. That sounds awesome. Crossover!”
Haas further added, “It just feels like we’ve got worlds that we could still explore on this one. So fingers crossed.”
Soffer played one of the major characters in Chicago PD, which was co-created by Haas along with Matt Olmstead, Dick Wolf, and Michael Brandt.
Haas also worked with Soffer on FBI: International, which was canceled after four seasons. He also spoke about having a reunion with Soffer while working on Countdown in Europe. He said, “Now the cool thing that I got to do is when we did the Europe scenes for Countdown, we shot in Budapest, and I got to go hang out with all the International people. I knew [him] really well from Chicago PD, so we got to have a nice — I got to have a little bit of closure before that shut down.”
