EAGLE-EYED Coronation Street viewers have noticed that Sue Cleaver actually made her first appearance on the soap years before she joined the cast as Eileen Grimshaw.
The actress is currently best known as the street car operator, who she has played since May 2000.

They took to an online forum to excitedly point out: “Look who I just found, it’s Eileen playing a nurse back in July 1994!”
Other viewers flocked to the comments to express their surprise.
One person exclaimed: “Amazing! It looks like her too!”
Another speculated: “When they brought the Baileys to the street I was sure I’d seen Aggie in the past as a background sewer at Underworld. I think the show ‘tests’ actors first before committing to them long term.”
A third complimented the actress, saying: “Sue Cleaver has aged like fine wine. She looks much better now and has lost a ton of weight.”
Sue has been on a short break from Coronation Street this summer as she took on the West End, starring as Mother Superior in the stage play of Sister Act.
To explain Eileen’s absence from the cobbles, show writers had her rush to her son’s hospital bedside in Thailand after he suffered from a broken back.
Ahead of her return to the ITV soap, Sue has opened up about a traumatic experience in her teens.
She told the Mirror that when she was only 17 she found herself pregnant – with a much older man’s baby.
Sue said: “I looked for love and validation and acceptance in all the wrong places and my first sexual encounters were with somebody who was four or five years older than me.
“Nowadays that would just be unthinkable, but it wasn’t at the time.
“It was no-one’s fault and my parents, who were fantastic, only ever tried to do their best for me, but like a lot of teenagers I was lost.
“Nowadays there is awareness around mental health, but when I was that age, we had no concept of it and when I look back, I was very unhappy. I’d never want to re-live that time again.”
Sue went on to share that she slept with a 35-year-old man who “took advantage” of her young age, and ended up getting an abortion as she didn’t feel ready for motherhood.
She added: “I was in absolute turmoil. I eventually told my mum.
“My dad never knew. I look back and think I was so resilient. I just got on and I dealt with stuff.”
