If it’s one thing that Jodie Ramsey has proven Coronation Street , is that she doesn’t need a weapon to destroy lives.

Weatherfield’s number one boiler of bunnies has managed to almost entirely blow up her half-sister Shona Platt’s (Julia Goulding) life with a few well placed lies, a smattering of seduction, and a spot of kleptomania.

This is all part of Jodie’s elaborate revenge for the time a teenage Shona ran away from home as a teenager, leaving Jodie to deal with their unstable dad Doug (Steve Evets).

So to pay her back, Jodie’s going to steal her siblings entire life sibling’s family, including her husband David (Jack P Shepherd). Seems fair. Totally not an overreaction at all.

Now the final showdown between the sisters approaches, actress Olivia Frances-Brown, who plays Jodie, gives us a glimpse into her character’s headspace. What drives her to go full cuckoo in the nest on her sister?

‘It’s all about her warped mind’. Olivia insists. ‘Jodie has convinced herself that David symbolises her potential for future happiness. She’s lost the plot a little bit and truly believes David is the answer to all her wants and needs – which obviously isn’t reality! She’s just completely hooked on that idea now.’

‘Jodie idolises Shona so much that she literally wants to step into her shoes, take over her life and know what that feels like. By taking over David, the house, the role with Harper – she genuinely wants to know how it feels to be Shona.’

‘She loves her sister, but she wishes Shona had treated her differently throughout her life. There’s a deep need to get her own back and have some sort of revenge. As much as she cares about their relationship, she’s willing to do whatever it takes to get the happiness she feels she deserves.’

Olivia’s not kidding. Jodie’s desperate to make her deluded dreams come true… desperate enough to kill.

So it’s probably not great that she’s got a gun stashed away.

Jodie makes a habit of hoarding stuff she steals from the neighbours. But the jewel in her collection is undoutedly the fire arm she stole from Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard) who had been hiding it for gangster Fiona Morley.

After her step-niece Lily (Grace Ashcroft Gardner) discovered the weapon, Jodie managed to convince her it was a fake. Now she’s hiding the gun out of sight, saving it for a rainy day. Unfortunately, that rainy day is about to break over Coronation Street next week in a shocking final showdown between the sisters.

All we know is someone gets shot. According to Olivia, everyone is a potential target.

‘It’s definitely been a long time coming for it to blow up between Jodie and Shona. Let’s just say… somebody is about to get their comeuppance and you’ll just need to watch to find out! ‘

‘It’s not every day at work that someone brings out a real weapon – with a professional gun handler on set to show you how to use it safely. When I read the script, I knew it could truly be anyone getting shot…’

But who will take that bullet? Shona? David? Jodie herself? Or perhaps some innocent bystander?

Then after the dust settles, what happens next? Will Jodie make it out alive? And even if she does, how on earth will she escape justice for the carnage she caused? Surely this is the end? Not necessarily, according to Olivia, who reminds us never to underestimate our Jodie. assuming Jodie survives,

‘She’s always got a trick up her sleeve. Confrontation puts her straight into fight-or-flight mode. She’ll either give it everything she’s got or just run.’
