Coronation Street star Sean Wilson has revealed his next full time commitment, after he was dropped from the ITV soap over a since-cleared alleged assault.

The 60-year-old actor played Martin Platt for two decades between 1985 and 2005, and was due to return for Helen Worth’s Gail Platt exit storyline last year.

However, his short stint was later pulled, with fans confused as to why he had been replaced by Cold Feet legend John Thomson, who reprised his Jesse Chadwick role.

In November, Sean claimed that he lost the gig while he was pending a police inquiry into an alleged indecent assault from 1997.

He has since been cleared of the claim made by a woman with connections to the long-running series.

Despite already filming scenes, he was called into the show’s studios in Trafford, Greater Manchester, to be told that bosses were dropping him due to claims of historic sexual assault.

Sean has now taken to X to share an update on his life.

The former Saddleworth Cheese Company owner wrote: ‘It’s time to take the leap of faith into a dedicated artist website…

‘Will get you into an eclectic site, where I’m offering many images and series of works.

‘I would love you to drop in and have a peruse…S xx’

Shortly after his axing, he was pictured walking near to the Coronation Street set, holding artwork in his arms.

At the end of last year, he opened up about the ordeal, saying: ‘My whole world was blown apart. My reputation was ruined in just eight minutes.

‘I had no idea who had made this complaint or anything about it, but I lost my job. It’s been hell. I’ve been low all the way through.’

He continued to The Sun: ‘I was in bewilderment. They said they had to cut the contract and protect their cast.

‘I told them I knew it hadn’t happened and I deserved a chance to convince them. But they said once it had become a police matter they couldn’t do anything.

‘I was in total shock. I was being thrown out the door after 21 years of a glittering career.’

The actor was told during a voluntary police interview that there was little evidence corroborating the claim, and it was also detailed differently to what he was originally told by soap bosses.

Wilson accused ITV of getting their facts ‘completely wrong’ and attributed the outcome to his own ‘investigative’ work.

‘This whole entire thing has been unbelievable. No matter who you are or where you work, you are just one call away from ruin.’

He also discussed the toll it took to share the ordeal with his children, the financial impact, and the implications on his future career for which he felt his plans had been derailed.
