It seems like Khabib Nurmagomedov can’t escape the exit row!  Earlier this year, ‘The Eagle’ found himself grounded—literally. In January, the undefeated UFC legend was asked to leave a Frontier Airlines flight after refusing to give up his seat in the exit row. A flight attendant claimed she didn’t feel “comfortable” with him sitting there.

According to reports, Nurmagomedov tried to ask why he was being asked to move, and the attendant replied, “Because they [the flight attendants] are not comfortable with you sitting in the emergency exit row.”

The Dagestani legend, calm as ever, quietly exited the plane, leaving many fans and fighters stunned. After all, this was a man who conquered the Octagon—was an emergency exit row seat really too much for him to handle?

Fast forward to now, and Khabib Nurmagomedov’s back in the spotlight! According to a post shared on Instagram by ESPN MMA, it was revealed, “Khabib posted on his Instagram story that he was once again in the exit row of a plane. Khabib was removed from the exit row earlier this year after a dispute with a flight attendant. He was eventually refunded after the incident.”

This time, he wasn’t removed. But the post stirred the MMA world once more, poking at a wound still fresh. After all, UFC CEO Dana White was also tagged by Nurmagomedov in the original post with the caption reading, “Why do they always put me in this place? @danawhite”. After the incident with Frontier Airlines, the UFC boss had gone scorched earth on the company! In an interview on ‘Pardon My Take’, White exclaimed, “This kid’s got more money than anybody, but that’s how humble he is. He’s flying on that piece of s— airline. What do you expect?”

But this time around, the real fireworks came from Conor McGregor’s camp! Dillon Danis, the grappling expert and a training partner of McGregor, took to social media to fire off a sharp jab at ‘The Eagle’ and his repeated seating woes. And the internet? They had a field day as we take a look at what the fandom had to say!

Khabib Nurmagomedov gets deja vu with his airplane seating as Dillon Danis and MMA fandom react

It looks like Dillon Danis still hasn’t gotten over Khabib Nurmagomedov soaring above the cage and landing on him at UFC 229 after he had defeated Conor McGregor! This punchline with layers—referencing not just the flight protocol, but the old feud that still simmers beneath the surface indicates that some sparks still linger between the two camps.

@dillondanis: “Cause if anything happens, you get tossed out first.”

UFC flyweight Amir Albazi also chimed in, but he didn’t have much to say except laugh at the absurdity of the situation. After all, what else can you say when the past keeps popping up in unexpected ways for ‘The Eagle’?

@amiralbazi: “lmao”

Many also took notice of how quiet the flight crew must’ve been this time around. Following the incident earlier this year, ‘The Eagle’ released a statement where he wrote, “What was the base for that, racial, national, or other one, I’m not sure. “ And amidst the uproar surrounding the incident, Frontier Airlines responded by claiming, “The decision to deplane the customer was in no way related to his ethnicity and we have refunded him and his traveling companions for their flights.”

“You know the flight attendants aren’t saying anything to him this time.”

Other’s echoed Dana White’s statement as they pointed out that Khabib Nurmagomedov choosing to fly on a public airline is a testament to his humility and his grounded values. After all, in his scathing outburst at Frontier Airlines, the UFC boss had stated, “I’ve got to teach Khabib how to charter a plane, especially if you’re just going from Vegas to San Francisco. That’s how dumb they are at Frontier Airlines.”

“He could fly on a private plane if he wanted to.. shows you how humble he genuinely is.”

Others used humor to explain the logic. According to guidelines available online, exit row seating requires the person to be physically capable of performing emergency actions if the situation demands it. And if you have a former UFC champion on the plane, he definitely does fit the criteria!

“Well, you know the door is very safe, so it’s probably a good idea.”

But beneath the humor? A dose of truth. Khabib Nurmagomedov has helped people all his life, both inside and outside the cage. So, there could be no better choice as this fan pointed out. In fact, UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad took it a step further during the Frontier Airlines fiasco as he stated,  “He could’ve threw everyone off the plane and flew it himself if he wanted.””

“Because your supposed to help others if you sit there. You being who you are, well I’d sit you there as well.”

So, what is it about that exit row that keeps calling Khabib Nurmagomedov back? Is it fate? Coincidence? Or just a running joke the universe keeps playing on him? Either way, the story writes itself—an undefeated warrior, a humble flyer, and a seat that refuses to let go. While some see humor, others see humility. And then there are those like Dillon Danis, still throwing jabs from years ago, eager to stir the pot!

So what do you think? Is Khabib Nurmagomedov just being humble by flying economy? Or is it time for him to start traveling on private planes? Let us know in the comments below!
