CNN, Fox News, & More Have Strong Response to Donald Trump’s Recent Media Ban

Donald Trump‘s latest press ban has sparked backlash across the media. Outlets including Fox News, ABC News, NBC News, and more are pushing back against the CNN ban. If the complications don’t get resolved, Trump’s New York travel will have no primary TV pool.

In a recent announcement on Friday, CNN was banned from White House access by the President of the United States. This was done due to Trump’s alleged negative coverage from CNN, MS NOW, and Politico. Reacting to the news, Fox News, ABC, NBC, and CBS declined to cover the White House until the restrictions on CNN were lifted.

The bureau chief of Fox News Washington, Brian Boughton, stated, per Deadline, “This is to advise that, effective today, the TV pool will not be covering events designated as pool coverage of the president. This follows the White House’s position preventing CNN from fulfilling its assigned pool duties. There will be no replacement pool put in place.”

“All other pool coverage will continue as normal, including Congress, VIPs, and selected events in Washington and around this country. We will provide further updates as this situation develops,” the statement continued.

Why the networks refused to replace CNN in the White House pool rotation

The four major networks, including ABC News, Fox News, CBS News, and NBC News, have refused to replace CNN in the White House pool rotation, as they chose to stand beside the network. The networks stand united and protest against the administration’s alleged attempt to restrict press access to a network.

These networks, alongside CNN, have released a statement which reads, “The public has a vital interest in receiving accurate, independent information about its government. No administration should restrict a news organization because it objects to its reporting.”

CNN was originally assigned to handle the shared pool duties, which would have required them to release live footage of the sessions to media outlets across the globe. Adding to this, MS Now and Politico, too, have announced that they are lodging a lawsuit along with CNN against Donald Trump and his administration over the issue.
