The first set photos for DC Studios‘ highly anticipated Clayface movie have seemingly confirmed why Robert Pattinson’s Batman won’t become the DC Universe’s main version of the Dark Knight. Before this, some fans continued to express their desire to merge Matt Reeves’ The Batman universe with the DCU.
What is in the Clayface set photos?
Even though production on the Clayface movie hasn’t officially started yet, photos from its UK set have already been shared online as the crew gets everything ready for the scheduled shoot. Posted on X, the photos offer fans a first look at the vehicles they’ll be using for the project. This included a Gotham Police car, which bears a different design from the GPD cars shown in 2022’s The Batman, squashing fans’ hopes of seeing Pattinson as the DCU’s main Batman.
The Clayface movie will be directed by Speak No Evil director James Watkins from a screenplay written by Mike Flanagan. The adaptation will be led by Welsh actor Tom Rhys Harries as the titular DC character, who is a fan-favorite Batman villain that has shapeshifting abilities based on the character created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane for DC Comics. Harries is best known for his supporting roles in movies like 2019’s The Gentlemen and 2023’s Kandahar.
Described as a body horror thriller, the adaptation will reportedly feature “a Hollywood horror tale centering on a B-movie actor who injects himself with a substance to keep himself relevant.” The movie is scheduled to arrive in theaters on September 11, 2026, as part of the DC Universe’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters saga.
