Despite serious competition this past weekend in the form of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, director Christopher Nolan's holdover hit, The Odyssey, managed to add more than $135 million to its worldwide total. The movie is expected to hit the coveted $1 billion mark this weekend, joining The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises in a trio of Nolan movies to have achieved this feat. The filmmaker's 2023 release, Oppenheimer, fell slightly short of the milestone, grossing $975 million in its theatrical run. It will no doubt hit the $1 billion mark if and when it's re-released in theaters. For now, however, it holds a special place in Nolan's filmography as the movie that finally won him the Best Director honor at the Oscars.
