Studies have shown that streaming series that take too long between seasons tend to lose viewers. For instance, Guy Ritchie's well-received Netflix crime comedy, The Gentlemen, saw a 45% decline in its opening-week viewership after taking a two-year gap. On the other hand, Ritchie's own MobLand fared better on Paramount+, having returned a year after its first season. Meanwhile, Prime Video's Reacher delivered record-breaking numbers in its fourth season this year, having conditioned audiences over the last few years to expect it to return like clockwork every 12 months. By this yardstick, another Prime Video series has an uphill climb ahead of it when it returns with its second season after an uncommonly lengthy four-year hiatus.
